Why do weather forecasts sometimes get it wrong?

It does not mean it will rain 60% of the day, nor that 60% of the area will see rain. A 30% chance is not "no rain" — it means roughly 1 in 3 similar weather situations produce precipitation. Even low probabilities warrant carrying an umbrella if the potential rain would disrupt your plans.

Why might the temperature shown differ from my personal thermometer?

Official temperature readings are taken at standardized conditions: 2 meters above the ground, in a shaded, ventilated enclosure (Stevenson screen), over open ground away from buildings and pavement. Your personal thermometer may be affected by direct sunlight, proximity to heat-radiating surfaces (asphalt, brick walls, car hoods), altitude differences, or indoor radiant heat. Urban areas often experience the "heat island effect," where temperatures are 2–5°C higher than surrounding rural areas due to concentrated pavement, buildings, and waste heat. Our forecast reflects the official meteorological measurement standard for your general area.

How accurate is the 10-day forecast?

Short-range accuracy is excellent: day 1 forecasts verify correctly about 95% of the time, and day 3 is around 90%. By day 5, accuracy is approximately 85%. Beyond day 10, forecasts are speculative and should be used only for very rough planning.
